Questions For Dr. B
Frequently Asked Questions
"I made the decision to run for reelection because I feel a responsibility to follow through on the work we started during my first term. For example, we streamlined operations to achieve more with less in our various departments and worked to develop a sense of pride in customer service and efficiency. I would hate to see another administration reverse our commitment to doing more with less, as it would place an increased burden on homeowners. I also think it's essential to be in a position to fulfill the various commitments made during our first term."
"I think it comes down to the fact that I am not a lifelong politician. In fact, I consider myself a public servant, rather than a political figure. I bring a unique perspective to the position, driven by my commitment to civil public discourse.
Four decades as a teacher, principal, and Superintendent of Schools have taught me to disagree without being disagreeable and communicate my beliefs and concerns without demonizing those who think differently. I will never resort to negative campaigning or devise governing as I believe we need to model the behaviors we hope to see in our children."
"I've always believed that the primary responsibility of this Town Board is to maintain fiscal oversight over precious tax dollars. I'm proud of the fact that we have been able to produce tax cap-compliant budgets and happy that Huntington remains one of only two townships in the county to stay under that legal limit. We've also been able to earn a Triple A bond rating and refurbish a record number of parks and beaches, while simultaneously rebuilding a substantial portion of our heavy equipment and upgrading our sanitation fleet to collect over 1,000 tons of refuse last year. While these accomplishments may not be flashy in nature, they are, in fact, the "bread and butter" of local government, directly impacting our residents' lives every day."
